Piotr Gawrysiak

Dr Gawrysiak received his PhD in Computer Science from Warsaw University of Technology in 2002 after completing his MSc at this university in 1998. He is also a graduate of the University of Warsaw where he studied Business Management and received MSc in 2001. Dr Gawrysiak is currently working as an assistant professor at the Warsaw University of Technology teaching database design, data, text and web mining and artificial intelligence; and doing research in these areas but he is also exploring such diverse topics as (among other things) open source development management, intelligent wireless networks or ontology creation and management. He is also working as a freelance IT consultant and R&D project manager under private and public research programmes. He has been involved in BRAMA activities since its very beginning.
Svein Hallsteinsen

Svein Hallsteinsen works as a senior research scientist at SINTEF in Trondheim, Norway. He holds a master in physics and applied mathematics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, now the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His research interests include software architecture, component based software engineering, software product lines and adaptive software in the context of mobile and ubiquitous computing. Svein was the technical manager of MADAM (IST-004159) and is currently technical manager for MUSIC. He has served on the review panel of several software projects under the IST programme.
Geir Horn

Mr Horn is senior scientist at SINTEF ICT, the biggest independent research institute in Scandinavia. He has been working in European research for 15 years and has managed several European collaborative projects. He has participated in multiple proposal evaluations for the IST programme in FP5, FP6 and FP7: SCI-Europe, SISCI, Arche. Now he coordinates a few projects: MADAME, MUSIC and MicroBuilder and takes part in 3S project. He is responsible for European collaboration in Norwegian research institute SIMULA. Dr Horn is a scientist of European and international reputation, he was consultant in many R&D projects, and took part in evaluation processes of some R&D programmes and project as a consultant and evaluator. He is an author of many scientific publications. He speaks Norwegian, English and French fluently.
Michał Jarociński

Michał Jarociński received M.Sc. in telecommunications in 1975, and Ph.D., also in telecommunications, in 1982, both from the Faculty of Electronics, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT). Since 1975 he has worked for Institute of Telecommunications WUT, initially as assistant, from 1982 as Assistant Professor, and from 2007 as Associated Professor. He has been involved in numerous technical and scientific projects for telecom operators and telecom manufacturers. In 1982-87 he was a head of group developing Digital Switching System for Telfa Bydgoszcz (Polish manufacturer, bought by Lucent in the 90s). From 1992 to 2004 he has worked for Alcatel Poland as
Software Center Manager, D-ty Technical Director, and then D-ty Director of Fixed Communication Group. He is author and co-author of 2 patents, 4 books, and he published more than 50 research articles and conference papers.
Jakub Lipiński

Jakub Lipiński is a mobile software enthusiast and architect. Chief Technology Officer and Member of the Board at Psiloc, a Symbian software house. As a head of the software development team, he designs and leads Mobile 2.0 solutions for both business and end-users. Jakub also started the Latest Mobile Technologies Laboratory at Warsaw University of Technology, which conducts research into iPhone and Android platforms. He's graduated in computer science from AGH-University of Science and Technology and Business Communication from Tischner European University.
Jan Kaczmarek

Jan Kaczmarek, graduated from Warsaw School of Economics. His interests cover, inter alia: benchmarking methods, multiple criteria analysis, socio-economic aspects of information society, mobile technology and applications, European Union policies on research and development (R&D) and media. J. Kaczmarek also graduated from the Fontys University of Professional Education in Eindhoven, Holland where he received a bachelor degree in International Marketing and Management. He was project coordinator’s deputy in ALIPRO project (project supported from the resources of the 3rd call of FP6). Currently, he is involved in a European 3S project (Strategy for Software and Services financed also from FP6). His work experience covers an internship in a Catalan international trading company based in Barcelona. He cooperates with BRAMA through its liaison with MOST Foundation where J. Kaczmarek is responsible for coordinating projects and proposal development, in particular under R&D schemes such as European Framework Programme and national R&D programmes. He is an author/co-author of several publications on R&D financing mechanisms and support schemes.
Mieczyslaw Muraszkiewicz

Professor Muraszkiewicz is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of Warsaw University of Technology and holds professorships at University of Warsaw. He is also Deputy Director of Institute for Computer and Information Engineering. Since 1988 he has been working as a consultant, expert and coordinator in United Nations-sponsored projects, World Bank projects and European Commission projects in some 45 countries. His main areas of expertise include: network information systems, mobile communications, knowledge representation and management, e-learning, relationships between technology and culture, management of multi-national R&D programmes, strategic analysis and planning. He is Polish Representative to the Domain Committee of the European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST), and Chairman of the Polish eMobility Platform.
Erlend Stav

Erlend Stav is a senior research scientist at SINTEF ICT in Trondheim. His current research interests include software architecture, component software, model driven development, visual development environments and tools, and assistive technology for elderly and disabled users. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in the topic of developing extensible application composition envirohttp://www.most-program.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1nments for end users.
Jacek Surazski

Jacek is a member of the Android Team at Google. Previously he worked on the Qt framework at Trolltech. His interests include mobile UI design, social networking on mobile devices and bigos.
Jan Szmidt

Jan Szmidt was born in Bilgoraj in 1952. He received M.Sc., Ph.D. and D.Sc. degree from the Faculty of Electronics Warsaw University of Technology in 1976, 1985 and 1995, respectively. In 1976 he joined Institute of Electron Technology (currently Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics) of Warsaw University of Technology, where he works by now. He was a trainee at the Institute of Electron Technology "CEMI" and at the Carnegie Mellon University, Pitsburgh, USA. In 1999, he became an Associate Professor. His research interests are concentrated on characterisation of thin films for microelectronics, optoelectronics and nanoelectronics. He is involved in projects concerned research on development of synthesis methods of diamond like carbon (DLC) and diamond-like boron nitride (DLBN) films, physicochemical properties of DLC and DLBN. He is author and co-author of over 100 papers and scientific studies as well as main executor and author of reports of more that 20 scientific research projects. He is also reviewer of number of journals and co-author of 2 patents. He was Chairman of several conferences and Workshops. From 2002 to 2005 he was an Associate Dean for Development of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology. Since 2006 he has been a Head of Electronic Materials and Microsystem Technology Division, Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics, WUT. Presently Jan Szmidt is a Dean of Faculty of Electronics and Information Technologies.
Michał Andrzej Woźniak

Michał Andrzej Woźniak is the network and systems administrator at the BRAMA Laboratory and a student of the Faculty of Philosophy at Warsaw University. He joins these two seemingly conflicting areas of interest - information technology and philosophy - in his fascination in Free and Open Source Software, both from purely technical and philosophical point of view.
